ob — indirect yes/no questions
A yes/no question folded into a sentence takes ob: Kommt er? → Ich weiß nicht, ob er kommt. It’s also the polite way to ask: Können Sie mir sagen, ob der Kurs stattfindet? In this ob-clause, the finite verb comes at the end.
