The accusative: der → den
When a noun is the direct object — the thing you take, order, buy, or eat — it stands in the Akkusativ. The good news: almost nothing changes. Only masculine articles shift: der → den. Ich nehme den Salat. Der Salat schmeckt gut.

In these active examples, identify the subject and the direct object: Der Kellner brings den Wein. Learn which case a verb requires; the person receiving something can also be a dative object.
