One pattern carries most complaints: body part + schmerzen. Ich habe Kopfschmerzen, Halsschmerzen, Bauchschmerzen, Rückenschmerzen, Zahnschmerzen. Add seit to say how long: Ich habe seit drei Tagen Husten.
Tip
In the complaint formula, -schmerzen is plural and has no article: Ich habe starke Kopfschmerzen — not „eine Kopfschmerzen“. (The singular der Kopfschmerz exists, but the formula uses the plural.)
