Subordinate clauses: verb at the end
A key word-order rule: after weil, dass, ob and wenn, the conjugated verb goes to the end of its clause — Ich bleibe zu Hause, weil ich krank bin. That is the neutral order, and the one to write. A comma separates the two clauses. Master this and a big part of A2 grammar falls into place.

| Hauptsatz | Nebensatz |
|---|---|
| Ich bleibe zu Hause, | weil ich krank bin. |
| Er kommt später, | weil er noch arbeitet. |
| Ich glaube, | dass sie recht hat. |
Tip
In the neutral order you write, the verb that carries the ending (bin, arbeitet, hat) closes the clause — the rest keeps its normal order.
